Yo, what's up?
00:09
I'm Katsu.
00:10
And these are my vibes.
00:12
My vibes are, I would say a hopeless romantic vibes.
00:16
You know, I feel like ever since middle school, I've always
00:19
been a hopeless romantic, like doing cheesy stuff to impress
00:22
a girl or doing, I don't know, little things like that, you
00:26
know, like sending notes and stuff.
00:27
Like I've always been just super cheesy growing up and I felt
00:31
like that kind of reflects in my music now because I write about
00:34
love all the time because it's just something that, you know
00:37
we can all relate to.
00:46
You know, actually, I uh a buddy of mine was going through like
00:49
a really rough time in with his relationship and I, I remember
00:54
I had this song and he was talking to me about what he was going
00:57
through and I was like, you know what I can, I can kind of write
01:01
his story into a song.
01:03
She didn't feel the same way about him, but he was hopelessly
01:06
in love with this girl, you know, because she obviously, it
01:09
looked like she didn't give two shits about him, you know,
01:12
and I feel like when I saw that.
01:14
I was like, damn, this is, this is some heavy stuff and I, I wrote
01:17
it into a, well, when I started this song, honestly, I was thinking
01:20
more of like a, like an old school, you know, Bolero pop kind
01:24
of song.
01:25
But then I started like adding synthesizers and little sounds
01:28
here and there.
01:29
And I was like, oh, this is kind of like, like Bolero, but at
01:32
the same time, it has my, my twist on it, you know, like my, my
01:36
sins and my, and my voice and, you know, my characteristics
01:40
of my music, I added it to a more originally, it wasn't gonna
01:44
be on anything.
01:46
It was just for me to have, you know, like a little Boleto song
01:49
that I was working on, but I ended up really liking it.
01:51
The lyrics came out naturally and everything just felt right
01:55
And yeah, it's a song that's from a project that I'm working
01:58
on right now, you know, I'm working on my debut album and this
02:01
is, this is from that, I feel like this music video is kind of
02:12
like a clash between and Pulp Fiction.
02:15
It's just like if those two met and made some sort of, no, this
02:20
is it for this music video.
02:22
I wanted to capture L A, you know, and the best, uh in my opinion
02:26
the best part of L A, you know, East Los Angeles and my studio
02:30
is not too far from a plaza.
02:31
So it's there all the time.
02:33
You know, and I, I know a lot of the vocals.
02:35
I'm always walking around like they know me.
02:38
So I was, you know, I just thought it'd be cool to include these
02:41
people into my music video, you know, De Boyle Heights.
02:51
It was a three day shoot for me and my girlfriend, my girlfriend's
02:54
a part of the video too and it was three days just all day with
02:59
different scenes, different places to shoot.
03:01
Uh My band is also in it but they only recorded uh they only filmed
03:05
one day.
03:06
Yeah, but me and Julie, we were filming for three days and it
03:10
was pretty, it was pretty intense.
03:11
It was so much so worth it.
03:12
Like my acting skills are not great.
03:15
But for this, I think they're OK.
03:18
Oh my God.
03:18
There was just so many moments.
03:20
I, the one that stands out the most was I think the motorcycle
03:23
scene because we were taped onto like a u-haul thing.
03:26
And there was a bunch of people lined up like doing drugs, bro
03:31
that everyone had a nas tank with them.
03:33
Everyone.
03:33
Like it was so weird.
03:35
We didn't even know we're gonna pull up to this place where
03:37
people go to turn up, you know.
03:39
So we go and they strap us up and we're there just going back
03:43
and forth filming this scene and people are like with balloons
03:46
like cheer like yelling at us and we're like, just don't worry
03:49
about them, let's just get this done.
03:51
And I think at one point, someone was like Lana Del Rey and I
03:55
was like, oh my God, because they just saw me in the back and
03:59
Julie in the front and I had like my, my leather jacket on.
04:02
So it looked very, you know, very Lana Del Rey.
04:10
I feel like whenever I write a song, I'm always in a certain
04:13
headspace and I'm going through like so many emotions that
04:15
I try to put myself into the other person's shoes, you know
04:18
I try to see it from their perspective.
04:20
OK?
04:20
My girlfriend, she seems, you know, very toxic but I have,
04:25
I still love her.
04:25
I love this girl so much but she's just, she doesn't wanna,
04:28
she doesn't want me, you know.
04:30
And so I try to put myself there and I want the listener to feel
04:33
that I want them to feel the happiness and the music but then
04:37
listen to the lyrics and be like, damn, this is a sad song, you
04:40
know, yo, it's Katsu.
04:49
So make sure to follow me on all the socials at Katsu and make
04:53
sure to check out a more out now.
04:56
And I just want to give a shout out to me for sharing my vibes
04:58
and don't leave yet because a more music video is up next.
