What's going on?
00:01
Like I thought my phone was tripping out because the views
00:04
just kept going and going and going.
00:06
So I was like, OK, cool.
00:07
Like tiktok really does like videos like this.
00:09
So I was like, I'm gonna post more very wavy.
00:12
We're so excited to have you here at Latino music by me too.
00:15
Thank you for joining us.
00:17
We just want to know a little bit more about you and your career
00:19
I was actually born in Mexico City and then I moved around a
00:24
little bit in Mexico and then my dad, he ended up getting a job
00:27
offer here in the United States.
00:28
So we're the first of our family to be here in the United States
00:33
Like it's just four of us here.
00:35
So it's kind of crazy when we moved.
00:37
I was like, oh my gosh, we're moving to the US.
00:39
Like, you know, that's such a big thing in Mexico.
00:42
So we finally moved here.
00:43
I was about second grade.
00:45
I want to say is whenever we moved here.
00:47
Yeah.
00:47
So I've been here for a minute and then, yeah, I just grew up
00:51
here.
00:52
It wasn't until high school.
00:54
That then I started to be really, you know, experimenting
00:58
with, like, OK, maybe.
00:59
Yeah, I can DJ.
01:00
I've always loved music.
01:01
Like, ever since I was little, my dad played it all the time
01:04
around the house.
01:05
Like, music has just always been in my life.
01:08
Did you teach yourself, like, through youtube videos or,
01:10
like, how did you, like, really start becoming a DJ?
01:12
Like, did you, did someone give you the equipment?
01:14
Like here you go, here's what you need to do or where you're
01:16
like, self taught.
01:17
I was self taught every time somebody asked me like, yo, what's
01:20
the best advice?
01:21
Like, I want to become a DJ.
01:22
I'm like youtube, they're like, no, what advice do you have
01:25
I'm like, literally youtube, you can find it any thing on youtube
01:29
That's how I started out.
01:31
I looked up like beginners for DJ s just anything or just watching
01:35
DJ sets seeing like how a DJ was able to control a crowd and stuff
01:39
like that.
01:39
That's a big part of it too.
01:41
So, yes, literally youtube, I self taught and that's how I
01:44
started out.
01:45
It was a lot of mess ups before we got to the good stuff.
01:48
Were you on tiktok before the pandemic or like you were just
01:52
like, did someone tell you, hey, you should try like uploading
01:54
your sets player?
01:55
I remember I got tiktok like before in the pan pandemic and
01:59
I was just kind of like, let's see what these kids are doing
02:01
you know, because it was like the new app.
02:03
So I was like, OK, this is cool.
02:05
I had, if you go back on my tiktok and you scroll all the way at
02:07
the bottom, there's like one video where I posted where it
02:10
was me doing a DJ transition.
02:11
It isn't really going on here.
02:13
So I was like, OK, you know, like, I didn't think too much of
02:15
it but usually what I would do on my Instagram stories, I would
02:19
put my phone like right there how the tiktok videos and I would
02:21
just put them on my stories and I noticed that people were really
02:25
liking, seeing that type of stuff, you know, like the up close
02:28
personal.
02:28
So one day I was just like, uh I'm gonna try and put what I usually
02:32
put on my Instagram stories.
02:33
I'm gonna try and put it on tiktok and then I did it, I did like
02:35
three videos back to back and then one of them started going
02:38
crazy and I was just like, what's going on?
02:41
Like I thought my phone was tripping out because the views
02:45
just kept going and going and going.
02:46
So I was like, OK, cool.
02:48
Like Tik Tok really does like videos like this.
02:50
So I was like, I'm gonna post more.
02:52
How do you feel like, you know, I got like at the forefront of
02:54
like feeling this new way of Latino DJ, they can see honestly
02:58
I have no words for it because to me, you know, I'm just mean
03:03
I'm out here doing this.
03:04
But whenever I hear, like people say that, I'm like, wow, that
03:07
really is true.
03:08
So it's nice.
03:10
It's, it's exciting because what makes me really happy is
03:13
whenever I see like young girls in my comments that are like
03:15
oh my God, you inspire me.
03:17
And it's like girls that look like me, you know, like Hispanic
03:19
Latina and like they look at me and they're like, wow, I can
03:23
do that too because I see somebody that looks like me.
03:26
So I think that's like the most beautiful part about it is to
03:28
be able to inspire people that look like you talking about
03:32
you know, Latin artists, which Latin artists do you think
03:34
that have influenced you?
03:36
I love me some bad bunny JB.
03:38
But then you know, of course, we got to go with the OG that the
03:40
Yankee like, so I don't know, it's so many like when you say
03:46
that I'm, I just goes through my Serrato and I just start scrolling
03:49
through all these artists.
03:50
Like it's impossible because there's so many and they're
03:52
so amazing in the fact that they're able to still influence
03:55
like the newer generation.
03:56
Like you can see how beautiful it is.
03:58
Like the love that like Daddy Yankee and like Jay Balvin have
04:01
to each other like it's never on some oh you're crossing the
04:05
line.
04:05
It's like no, like come on, let's do this.
04:08
So I think that's pretty dope.
04:09
I love that.
04:10
Which plans do you have for this year?
04:12
Because I know you have some parties set up right now, some
04:15
tickets going.
04:16
Yes, coming up, we have our party returning.
04:19
Very Latin.
04:19
So very Latin is the second party under my own production company
04:24
So that party is really special just because I own everything
04:27
Like we go to the venue like it's full 100% ownership.
04:30
And I think that's been one of my biggest goals from the beginning
04:33
is showing that we're not, not just DJ S like we don't just press
04:37
buttons like we're event curators, we put on shows like there's
04:40
so much stuff that goes behind the scenes that just me sitting
04:43
here, popping my phone up and practicing.
04:45
Like you have to think about tickets, you think about, OK,
04:47
how do we make this an experience for everybody?
04:49
And I'm grateful that I have a team that is willing to, you know
04:53
come up with these great ideas with me and we're able to curate
04:56
them and bring them to people in a special, special way.
04:59
The top five Latin party bangers that every party meets, you
05:04
see, that's a really hard question because I can tell you five
05:08
songs right now, but it really depends on the crowd and in the
05:12
moment.
05:13
So let's say like right now for sure people are like Oh my God
05:16
you have to play.
05:17
You know, like that's a song that would go right now.
05:20
But there's been times where I've done live, like, streaming
05:23
DJ sets of line and I never play the song once just because that's
05:26
not what was in the moment.
05:28
So you really have to look at a crowd, see it and feel it to know
05:31
what song will go.
05:32
But two songs that I for sure love throwing in there, I love
05:36
putting in because I just love how it's such a classic, but
05:40
it's like, it represents everybody.
05:43
Like I love songs that shout out everybody like yo and then
05:47
whenever the Colombia and they just start naming all these
05:51
different countries, it's amazing because as Latinos, there's
05:54
so many of us, we look so different, we're dark, we're light
05:58
like we're all shades of the spectrum and I think that's beautiful
06:01
So I love when songs shout out all these different places and
06:04
be like, yeah, that's me, that's me two more that you can think
06:08
of like you're like, like every time you play you're like,
06:09
hey, people just, you know, like my dad.
