00:06
Hey guys, welcome back to meet through Daily.
00:08
I'm Jenny. I'm Alejandro and we're not working today.
00:12
We're not. Why are we here?
00:13
I don't know. We're coming to you from the past for
00:17
the future. I don't know.
00:19
we're gonna have a short and sweet episode for you guys today
00:22
because it is Veterans Day.
00:23
It is. But before we get into the news today,
00:27
we're brought to you by the me too newsletter.
00:29
Sign up that we are.
00:30
Me too.com stay up to date on me to news events and
00:33
more. And now let's get into the news.
00:36
So sister, a lot of us have a three day weekend
00:38
But do you know why?
00:40
Well, brother Veterans Day,
00:42
but I'm gonna be real with you.
00:43
I don't really know the origin story.
00:46
Me either, but our writers actually provide us a story.
00:49
So let's break it down.
00:50
Yeah. So Veterans Day originally started as Arm State back in
00:53
1919. It marked the end of World War One when fighting
00:56
stopped on November 11th at the 11th hour of the 11th day
01:02
Damn so many elevens.
01:04
Them crystal. Ladies,
01:06
man, they must have been having a field day going crazy
01:09
that day. Seriously.
01:10
All the angel numbers lady are going to be like in 1954
01:14
President Dwight D Eisenhower signed a law officially changing Armistice Day to
01:19
Veterans Day to honor all us military veterans no matter which war
01:22
they served in. So it's not just about one war anymore
01:26
It's about honoring all veterans who served our country.
01:28
Does it honor the battles My stomach has fighting after my sue
01:31
grass now. So you see a doctor for that one.
01:34
So day is a proper reminder of the dedication and bravery of
01:37
our veterans. And that's what we observe Veterans Day,
01:39
every November 11th salute,
01:42
but not really like Frijoles jokes aside,
01:45
all jokes aside, like we really appreciate you guys.
01:49
you know, did it for everybody in the country and we
01:53
appreciate it. And I mean,
01:55
enjoy your day off today.
02:00
We welcome Ana Sheila Victorino and Cesar Camacho to talk about their
02:05
new queer Latino podcast.
02:11
And the podcast is called Las Pateras podcast.
02:15
That our queerness has been the thing that's changed the most in
02:20
ourselves. But it's been the only constant thing,
02:23
you know what I mean?
02:24
And that's beautiful why we can be something like this like Las
02:27
Tale, tell us a little about yourselves and then the podcast
02:32
as well. I really just love doing work that helps foster
02:38
inclusion and belonging. And so all my work just like revolves
02:42
around that. And this is just the the latest extension of
02:44
that. I am an actor and a writer.
02:47
I also work in marketing as my day job,
02:48
you know, trying to survive.
02:50
I based on radio show when I was younger too,
02:51
like in college right out of college.
02:53
So I feel like coming back to this now with a different
02:56
mindset, more experiences was like a beautiful journey to be on
03:00
especially because we've known each other for so long but not like
03:03
known, known each other like that deep and now we're getting
03:07
because I feel like in the Latino community in L A,
03:09
especially like, you know,
03:10
so many people. And so now we're really getting to build
03:14
you know, we're becoming a little familia that's good.
03:16
And the chemistry I would imagine is really good,
03:18
right? When you guys are on the podcast,
03:23
You know, it was our host who's fucking amazing.
03:27
Y'all got to watch them.
03:28
We just wanted to have a lot of fun and we have
03:31
had a lot of fun like Cesar Mena and they were amazing
03:35
producers. Shout out to producer Joel and what inspired you guys
03:41
to start your podcast and what do you hope to achieve with
03:45
I had a previous podcast called La Marin,
03:48
the podcast. They've actually been here as well and I love
03:52
I love being a part of that project,
03:53
I was part of that project for five years.
03:55
And I think what I really was wanting to create with this
03:58
creative project is I really wanted something that was a little more
04:01
oriented for the queer community.
04:04
Life is hard right now.
04:06
inflation, we've got wars and all the types of things going
04:10
on where people are not feeling as safe and protected in a
04:13
lot of ways. And we're feeling a lot of backlash in
04:16
And so just creating more spaces of care and comfort and safety
04:22
felt really important to me.
04:23
But I mean, joy and that's the combination of things that
04:26
I feel like we're trying to bring to this podcast.
04:28
It's also a place for people that want to understand the community
04:30
as well to kind of get to know us,
04:32
our struggles, our joys,
04:33
what we're going through.
04:35
we've cried on the podcast.
04:37
I think we give good advice.
04:38
So I feel like it's like you get a little bit of
04:40
everything. What's the funniest or most unexpected reaction you got when
04:47
you, when you came out to your family?
04:49
I told my brother and his first reaction and it was just
04:53
perfect. I was like,
04:54
oh, this is so perfect.
04:55
He said, so you think you can get more girls than
04:57
me or what you're like?
05:01
Yeah, and I can pull them.
05:04
I'm pretty sure he has that ever happened with you and your
05:09
brother though? We had,
05:12
that has not happened because he's been with the same girl his
05:15
whole life. But I did have one time with a good
05:18
friend where he was like,
05:20
oh, yeah, I'm talking to this new girl.
05:22
It was a guy and he,
05:24
and he shows me the picture and I was like,
05:26
oh, I matched with her on hinge and then he sends
05:32
a picture to the girl of us together.
05:38
And if you could create a coming out survival kit for Latino
05:42
families, what three items would you include?
05:47
Holy water, a candle of a Beyonce?
05:54
I think one thing is for sure having items that are comforting
05:58
You're a comfort person.
06:00
Someone that is just so loving comfort person,
06:03
a comfort item. What's something that always makes you feel safe
06:11
Well, I guess we need a TV guide Las Pale
06:14
podcast in that yes,
06:17
for parents to understand us and then for other queers to feel
06:21
identified. Oh, man.
06:22
Well, thank you guys so much for joining us today.
06:24
Can we give them a round of applause?
06:29
Thank you so much for having your,
06:31
of course. And where can people watch or where can people
06:34
listen to your podcast?
06:36
You can listen everywhere.
06:37
So, on Spotify Apple Podcast,
06:40
we also have a youtube channel because we are live and live
06:49
the and also on video which is actually new for me,
06:54
which is just beautiful,
06:55
having like a real set and the set is beautiful again.
06:58
Shout out to producer Joel.
07:01
damn, that's a work of art that's really dope on Sonora
07:04
on Instagram, on tiktok,
07:06
Facebook, a La Palera podcast.
07:10
Awesome guys. Let's give up.
