00:06
Hey guys, welcome back to Mitu Daily.
00:08
I'm Jenny and I'm Alejandro and it's been a nice day happy
00:13
you know, October and stuff and let's get into it
00:23
All right. First story.
00:24
So sister, there are some things you can just never let
00:28
go. Damn. Who hurt your brother?
00:30
Funny enough. It's not about me.
00:31
It's about Mexico's first woman,
00:33
President Claudia Sheen Baum and how she refused to invite King Felipe
00:38
of Spain to her inauguration.
00:41
Damn, that's a pretty big moment to not be a part
00:44
of why did he get snubbed?
00:46
It's not what he did.
00:47
It's what he didn't do.
00:49
Mhm I've been there.
00:52
that's for another time but he failed to apologize for the crimes
00:56
committed against Mexico's indigenous people during the conquest 500 years ago.
01:01
So the presidenta was like,
01:03
you're not getting the RSVP homeboy.
01:05
I mean, I'd have to agree with your brother.
01:08
Like the least this man could do is apologize the least like
01:13
this is your people.
01:15
It's your people, your people do this to our indigenous people
01:20
You know what I mean?
01:20
And we need some closure.
01:22
We are the product so yeah,
01:26
he didn't get the RSVP.
01:28
And so Spain was like,
01:28
you know what? You don't,
01:29
you don't invite the head Honcho.
01:30
We're pulling everybody out like no one else from Spain attended the
01:33
inauguration. Damn, this is like that family drama that happened
01:37
like what, like 20 years ago and people are still talking
01:41
about it like there's still beef but it's important beef.
01:44
It is. But it's like as the,
01:46
you know, the new generation want to be like the bigger
01:50
you know what? I know it was beef before,
01:52
with our other families that squash the beef.
01:55
But I guess King Felipe is just waiting for,
01:58
who he's waiting for to make the first move.
02:00
It's eagle brother freaking colonizers.
02:04
Imagine being in a 57 year relationship.
02:07
And then one night your partner leaves and they marry someone in
02:09
Vegas that's heartbreaking. So essentially that's what's happening to the city
02:13
of Oakland. Not only did they lose their baseball team,
02:15
right. The Raiders went to Vegas in 2019 beautiful stadium,
02:19
by the way. And now their beloved Oakland A's are headed
02:23
to Sin City as well.
02:25
Rest in piece of Tropicana because that's where they're going to build
02:27
It's a part of the stadium.
02:30
I saw the construction last time I went by and I was
02:32
wondering what is, and the taxi driver was telling me,
02:36
I don't know why they're building that shit.
02:38
He said, I don't know.
02:39
Yeah, the taxi driver,
02:40
he's like, I don't know why they're building that shit is
02:42
going to cause so much congestion.
02:44
Like, dude, if the traffic is bad in Vegas right
02:47
now, can you imagine if we build a stadium there?
02:50
But yeah, they keep losing all their teams.
02:52
poor fans getting ghosted from the same.
02:55
Surety is wild. Seriously,
02:58
man. So the recent A's move hasn't set well with fans
03:01
I guess in both cities,
03:02
right? Oakland and Vegas as they blame the move on.
03:04
Billionaire owner John Fisher,
03:06
who fans say skyrocketed ticket prices and trade away good players.
03:10
So he was like intentionally making a team like unwatchable.
03:13
Mm. But really though brother,
03:15
what I don't understand is why are all these teams moving to
03:19
sister, I think there's only one word here.
03:21
No money. So I guess they finally accepted Vegas and all
03:26
the bags that come with it.
03:28
Well, brother, I don't know about all these teams like
03:30
moving to Vegas, like pro athletes,
03:32
you know, gambling and strip clubs and I can see the
03:35
TMG headlines already. This is my other day for sure that
03:39
I feel for those wholesome sports fans in Oakland.
03:43
They're losing their squad brother.
03:44
What do they look up to?
03:46
What does Oakland have now?
03:48
I don't know, sister.
03:49
But if you remember a few months ago,
03:51
Oakland, what's going on over there.
03:56
I heard people are stealing luggages straight out of cars and that's
03:59
why they're moving. Hey,
04:04
when I went to DAPA,
04:05
the taxi driver told me there's no way in hell,
04:08
we're going through Oakland,
04:09
they're going to steal all the luggages out of the car.
04:11
And I'm like, really,
04:12
they're legit, like,
04:13
scared to go through there.
04:14
I don't know. That's what he told me,
04:15
but Oakland, hold on to the warriors.
04:20
Even though they're not really in Oakland anymore.
04:24
Maybe it will go back.
04:27
prayers for the Oakland homies,
04:29
New York's public enemy.
04:30
Number one is about to meet its match.
04:33
You talking about Eric Adams?
04:34
Really? No. But yeah,
04:36
that too is talking about.
04:38
It's infamous. Rat problem is true.
04:41
Oh, you lived over there?
04:45
They're like the size of Charles.
04:49
Well, it's gonna be crazy because under a plan approved by
04:51
the cities council contraceptive pellets we placed in special rat accessible traps
04:55
They're giving the rats plan B Yeah,
04:57
man, they got BS are nothing.
04:59
There's going these little,
05:00
you know, they get their Rx.
05:03
Are they on? Oh my God.
05:04
So starting next year,
05:06
the creatures will eat their way to a lower birth rate.
05:08
They put in the cheese or how does it work?
05:11
I don't know. But apparently the city plants have delivered a
05:13
sweet tasting birth control using special containers.
05:16
Furthermore, the contraceptive is reportedly not harmful to other animals.
05:20
So, you're telling me rats in NYC will get universal birth
05:25
control before women do.
05:26
That's America, baby.
05:32
cafes in California just got a whole lot louder.
05:36
Louder or louder. Louder.
05:41
Yeah, the second one.
05:45
So, marijuana dispensaries in California will be allowed to sell food
05:48
and non alcoholic beverages and even host live events on their premises
05:52
and it's giving real Amsterdam vibes out there,
05:55
so you're telling me people will be able to re up the
05:59
stash grab food and possibly watch a live show at the same
06:06
it's at the same damn time.
06:09
And it's all thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom who signed the bill
06:11
that paved the way for full scale pot lounges in the state
06:15
Supporters say this will help revive California's nightlife and increase profits
06:19
for the state's heavily taxed and regulated cannabis shops like he knows
06:23
his power. So you think dispensaries are about to be the
06:30
new hangout spot? It's a comedy shows going crazy,
06:35
bro. The comedy shows when you're high,
06:38
you just hit a whole different.
06:39
So I was in Vegas and I had an edible and all
06:42
the jokes were landing,
06:43
bro. My mom was a girl.
06:46
They weren't that funny,
06:47
but I could tell you were like a 11.
06:52
That's funny. So I'm down for that anyways,
06:55
the law will go into effect January 1st 2025 pending approvals from
06:59
local governments. And if that's the case,
07:01
I don't think I'm going to get one where I live because
07:03
they're fucking boring. Really?
07:05
You guys got six flags though?
07:06
That's all more flags.
07:07
More fun. But we don't get,
07:10
Yeah, the roller coasters.
07:12
We get high on life on life.
07:15
Do you think your city will get it?
07:16
Probably not. They don't even allow fireworks in West Covina?
07:19
Well, somewhere in California will get them.
07:21
Hopefully we'll see. Ok.
07:24
This sounds like a movie.
07:26
Our next guest planned a trip to her homeland of Guatemala and
07:31
met the man of her dreams during the trip.
07:33
It's been two years since the fateful trip and she recently posted
07:38
a video on social media that went viral.
07:42
We saw it and we had to talk to her about it
07:45
Welcome to the show,
07:46
Isabella Andreoni. Thank you so much for coming on the show
07:53
We've been trying to reach out to you and we're so
07:55
glad that we finally were able to and you're here with us
07:58
So what inspired you to plan your solo trip to Guatemala
08:02
Yeah, I feel like it was a culmination of a
08:04
lot of different things.
08:05
There were two main reasons that really pushed me to do it
08:09
I had been working for this place for two years and
08:13
I felt like my job got to the point where it kind
08:15
of consumed all aspects of my life.
08:18
And so June of 2022 I decided to step up from my
08:21
position and I had no plan set in place,
08:25
didn't know what my next steps would be.
08:29
but I started traveling and I had a few trips
08:31
planned with some friends.
08:33
And I've traveled, I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot
08:36
throughout my life, but I realized I've never done a solo
08:39
trip. So it got me thinking and I was born in
08:43
Guatemala, but I was adopted as a baby.
08:45
And I grew up here in the US and I've only been
08:48
back one other time since my adoption in 2019.
08:51
So I decided what better place to go on my first solo
08:55
trip than to Guatemala.
08:59
I booked my flight and,
09:02
you know, a few days into the trip is when I
09:04
met my now boyfriend and I would have never imagined the trip
09:08
to play out the way it did.
09:11
I bet you couldn't have imagined.
09:13
That's crazy. You went solo and,
09:14
and, and you're like now?
09:19
Exactly. Can you tell us?
09:21
I felt like your first encounter with the tour guide Manuel?
09:25
And was there an instant connection?
09:27
Yes. So it was really such a world wind.
09:31
I want to say it was love at first sight,
09:33
but it was pretty close to it.
09:35
I'm not going to lie.
09:36
He was my tour guide.
09:37
So we were in a group of about seven other travelers from
09:41
Germany from Italy, me being clearly Guatemalan looking but sounds super
09:47
American. And I think that kind of piqued his interest from
09:50
the beginning because as a lot of people do,
09:53
he started speaking to me in Spanish and my Spanish is not
09:56
so great. So I kind of had to explain a little
10:00
bit of my life story with him as I do with a
10:03
lot of people when they start speaking Spanish to me.
10:06
And I felt like for the first time in my life,
10:08
this person was honestly just genuinely curious about my story and didn't
10:13
pass any judgment on me for why I didn't speak Spanish,
10:16
even though I was born in Guatemala.
10:18
And I think looking back,
10:20
that was definitely a moment where I knew I had met someone
10:23
special because like I said,
10:24
it was the first time in my life,
10:26
especially from a male that was just,
10:29
you know, accepting for who I am and the circumstances for
10:33
the way my life had played out.
10:35
And I had no control over that in the moment.
10:37
I don't think I realized,
10:38
I realized how much effect that would have on me.
10:42
now that we're two years together,
10:44
I think back to the moment where I knew and that's the
10:47
moment I always go back to.
10:49
So you felt like you could be like,
10:50
like yourself, like you didn't have to put up a front
10:53
or nothing or worry about him,
10:55
judging you. That's so important in a relationship.
10:58
But what led you to share your love story on social media
11:03
right? And then it was like,
11:04
oh, I want to share my story.
11:06
Like what inspired you to share?
11:08
Yeah, I feel like I'm an open book,
11:10
you know, whether we're in person or even online on Instagram
11:14
tiktok, whatever the platform is,
11:16
I try and be super vulnerable because when I first started posting
11:19
it was mainly about my experience being adopted from Guatemala and
11:25
in such a short amount of time,
11:26
so many people reached out saying that they feel similarly or they've
11:31
had a similar experience and they're happy they can have someone to
11:34
relate to because I feel like Guatemalan adoptees is such a niche
11:38
community and there's not really a lot of representation for people with
11:43
our experience in mainstream media.
11:45
And I picked up on that very quickly.
11:47
And so I just continued to posting about my journey and
11:51
also time went on Manuel became part of my journey.
11:54
And so it was really easy for me to continue to just
11:57
post those, you know,
11:59
little moments in our relationship and whatnot for sure.
12:03
I mean, the whole thing,
12:04
it's like, would you recommend like,
12:07
you'd recommend like women that are very like,
12:10
you know, I want to start something new.
12:12
And would you recommend them taking a solo trip?
12:14
Oh my God. I tell everyone like,
12:16
if you have not had the chance to do a solo trip
12:19
try and make that happen.
12:21
And when you solo travel,
12:23
it pushes you to be comfortable with a lot of the things
12:25
that you're uncomfortable with and it pushes you outside of those boundaries
12:29
It teaches you to advocate for yourself.
12:32
And the biggest thing I took away was being comfortable with my
12:36
own company. That was something I always struggled with.
12:39
I always felt like I had to have plans on a Friday
12:42
night. Like God forbid,
12:43
I stayed in alone and just watched the movie by myself.
12:47
That was something that really scared me and now I'm the complete
12:51
opposite. I love your,
12:54
I love my solitude that.
12:57
Yeah. No, I think the more we get older it
13:00
starts to like you love being alone.
13:03
You start to realize that.
13:04
Right? So now you're a long distance couple.
13:08
How do you guys make it work?
13:10
Yeah. That's a great question.
13:13
I will always say being in a long distance relationship is not
13:16
for the week, but to me it was all worth it
13:20
if we just, it's such a special connection and I figured
13:23
if it's meant to be,
13:25
it will be. And now we're two years in and we're
13:28
still going strong. Yeah.
13:30
So that's good. I'm so I'm so happy for you.
13:34
It's amazing. And how does he feel like,
13:37
and, and if you guys have any plans for the future
13:39
you know, we're constantly planning,
13:41
what the next thing we get to do together is last holiday
13:46
season we decided to raise money for one of the villages in
13:52
that's cool. That's really,
13:53
really cool this coming holiday season.
13:56
We're doing the same thing when I go to visit him.
13:59
That's amazing. It sounds like you guys have the same kind
14:01
of like the same interests that are you guys very similar.
14:04
You guys are very similar.
14:05
I think so and we definitely have our differences,
14:09
definitely. But I think the things we care most about and
14:14
like our values were so similar and I've never had that before
14:21
I love them. Oh my God,
14:24
Oh my God. I kind of want to take a trip
14:27
now. I think I want to just roll the dice where
14:33
I go. Thank you so much Isabel for both of them
14:40
And where can people find you on social media and keep
14:43
up with the foundation?
14:44
Yeah, I'm on Instagram and tiktok at I dot Andreoni.
14:48
I post a lot on my tiktok specifically about my adoption story
14:51
and about the community work,
14:52
my boyfriend and I do so you can check it out if
14:55
you want to get involved.
14:56
That's awesome. Thank you so much.
14:58
Thank you. Thank you.
