Please help me welcome Miguel Mora to meet.
00:07
So Miguel,,
00:08
the black phone rang again and you answered,
00:12
but this time as the role of Ernesto in black phone too
00:16
I got brought back to life as a little brother.
00:22
Oh wow. And,
00:23
and how does it feel to be back and like you went
00:26
from being Robin to Ernesto?
00:29
What can you tell us about that?
00:30
Well, I feel really grateful to be back and be a
00:33
part. Of a sequel this big coming back to a
00:35
sequel is a great opportunity,
00:37
but I think coming back to a sequel to portray a new
00:40
character is something really special.
00:42
That to me is something really exciting.
00:44
So you did a really good job because I didn't even know
00:48
you were Robin in the first one like because you portrayed these
00:51
two different characters like the tough older brother and then the the
00:56
younger brother that's a little like you like yeah.
00:59
Yeah, it's adorable.
01:02
so that was crazy,
01:03
but what excited you the most in returning to Black phone2
01:08
When I read the script for the first time I was
01:11
really confused on how they were gonna make a sequel because I
01:15
knew that they were gonna make a sequel in 2022.
01:18
the director had,
01:20
I congratulated him for the film and I said hey hope you
01:23
guys make the sequel like seriously big congrats and he's.
01:26
Said we are gonna make a sequel and you're gonna be a
01:28
part of it and I was like how my character died and
01:31
like literally like a year and a half later I
01:35
get the phone call for Black Phone 2 and there we go
01:39
the director's phone call and that's when he told me,
01:42
OK, we're bringing you back to play Ernesto.
01:45
Ernesto is Robin's younger brother and he kind of just broke it
01:49
down to me there like who Ernesto is and.
01:52
Different different persona, different character.
01:55
When I got the script I was like this is,
01:57
this is gonna be a big thing like even when we
02:00
were filming it, you know,
02:02
you feel the vibe,
02:03
you feel the energy on set like everybody just kind of knew
02:07
That we're making something special here.
02:09
And growing up,,
02:10
were horror movies a part of your life and are there
02:14
any Latino horror stories or legends that influenced you?
02:18
I think the horror culture has always been something I grew up
02:22
with. I think it's such a traditional thing for the Mexican
02:25
culture to just scare the crap out of you growing up,
02:29
La Lloronaca like all these like creatures.
02:35
So yeah, I think growing up with that world of of
02:38
being. Terrified and scared is is something where I'm not not
02:43
new to me, you know.
02:44
And then with me growing up Latina too,
02:45
it's like it's funny how parents would use fear to kind of
02:49
like, right, like and it's like no right or don't
02:53
don't play with dolls too late or else they're gonna come
02:55
alive and grab you by the feet and it's just like senorte
02:59
you know, it's like crazy.
03:00
No, you're just at the like at the store and like
03:04
that happened to me before like ah you wanna yeah yeah and
03:09
you believe it, you,
03:10
you know, so that's how you know you get taught to
03:13
be disciplined in the Mexican cultures through horror we love us Latinos
03:18
we love scary movies.
03:20
Oh yeah, yeah,
03:21
I say it's a special.
03:22
in Mexico it's really cool to see how big the fandom is
03:26
in Mexico for black phone too that's something I'm so grateful to
03:30
see. We're proud of you for representing,
03:33
you know, the culture we're like,
03:34
oh he's Latino you know what I mean for sure that's a
03:37
big big that's something I I pride myself on a lot you
03:40
know growing up first generation Mexican American,
03:43
you know, you grow up with that pride of of your
03:46
roots and being able to portray.
03:48
Two characters now Robin Arellano was Mexican American and now Ernesto Arellano
03:53
is Mexican American, so it's not,
03:55
it's not just Miguel Mora that's Mexican American.
03:58
It's also the characters that I'm portraying,
04:00
you know, I'm working alongside Damian Bichi,
04:03
who's a Mexican actor.
04:04
Such a pleasure. Ariana,
04:08
Rivas Tambien.
04:09
She's,, a Latina actress.
04:12
You know it's it's cool to see that in this sequel there's
04:15
more Latinos now you know there's something we're really proud of and
04:18
I hope all my Latinos and Chicanos,
04:21
Mexican Americans are proud of it as well.
04:23
That's great and it it looks like there's a lot that's gonna
04:27
happen in the future for you and we're very excited for you
04:29
you have like such a bright future and we're super super proud
04:32
of you. Thank you for representing you and let's give it
04:35
up for Miguel Mora guys.
04:37
