What is up y'all?
00:07
Welcome back to Me Too Daily,
00:09
and I'm Alejandro, and once again we're not in the studio
00:12
They,,
00:12
they gave us the boot,
00:14
not like fired us at least I think,
00:15
but you know it's prerecorded.
00:18
They're, they're busy with the studio doing some other stuff.
00:20
So,, but anyways,
00:21
we have a super fly interview for you today.
00:23
Oh damn, brother.
00:25
Yeah I see what you did there using them dad jokes for
00:28
this father and son duo,
00:30
bro, sometimes he's got a flex on him,
00:31
right? But anyways,
00:33
we had the Ramirez pilots joining us,
00:35
father son duo for American Airlines.
00:37
They gave us like the best seat on the plane,
00:39
like those little tips and tricks,
00:40
and they used their pilot voice.
00:41
It was a fun time.
00:43
How cool. Oh,
00:44
well, let's check it out.
00:45
Let's do it. All right,
00:46
we are super excited to have Father Sonduo First Officer Nick Ramirez
00:50
and Captain SC Ramirez with us today.
00:52
Welcome to Me Too Daily.
00:54
Hey, we're excited to be here.
00:56
Thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your busy
00:58
schedule. I know you guys have lots of planes to fly
01:00
and get places to be literally.
01:02
So growing up, did you always know you want to fall
01:04
in your dad's footsteps and become a pilot?
01:06
It's really just always been a part of who I am.
01:09
From the time I was really little,
01:11
my favorite toys were always my toy airplanes.
01:14
And,, one of my favorite.
01:15
Things growing up was always going to the Air Force base,
01:18
because my dad was in the Air Force and,
01:20
and he flew in the Air Force and so I remember growing
01:23
up one time he was coming back from an Air Force deployment
01:27
and he had been gone for the last 3 months and
01:30
so I was, I was really excited to see him and
01:32
I remember waiting for him to land and then looking out.
01:36
Over the runway and seeing this airplane pop out of the clouds
01:40
and make this really smooth landing and then it turned and it
01:45
taxied over to the parking spot and they parked the airplane and
01:49
then all of a sudden I see the window open up and
01:51
I see my dad waving out of the window and I just
01:54
remember thinking that was so cool and and I've always just Kind
01:58
of see my dad as a as a superhero and and his
02:01
ability to fly. And so I always knew that I wanted
02:05
to to get to fly with him.
02:07
That's so awesome to hear.
02:08
I mean, because my dad,
02:09
you know, pick me up from school like,
02:10
Daddy, you know,
02:10
but like this is a whole another level.
02:12
Like this is so awesome.
02:13
You can't make this stuff up.
02:15
And to SC,
02:16
what was your reaction when you first saw Nick take control as
02:19
a pilot? It was really exciting to,
02:21
you know, kind of see him.
02:22
at the controls,
02:23
one of his favorite things to do when he was growing up
02:26
as a, as a little guy to go into the simulator
02:29
So I would take him into,
02:30
you know, you know,
02:31
our Air Force simulator,
02:33
on his birthday,
02:34
and, you know,
02:35
before he could even reach the rudder pedals,
02:37
he was, you know,
02:38
sitting in the seat at the controls,
02:39
flying the airplane and it's been just an exciting to to
02:43
watch his journey and to to see him come.
02:45
to where he is now,
02:46
and I'm just, just so,
02:47
so proud of him.
02:48
Was there any tense moments like when you were showing him the
02:50
ropes because my dad showed me how to drive stick shift in
02:53
the Kroger parking lot and there was this time that I wanted
02:55
to throw in the towel I'm like,
02:56
Dad, I can't do this.
02:57
He's like, no,
02:58
we're gonna do it,
02:59
you know, we're,
02:59
we're not leaving until you get this.
03:00
So like, was there any little things like that where you're
03:03
like, come on.
03:04
Luckily,, Nick and I spent a lot of time
03:07
practicing., and so he was really big in
03:10
the flight simulator. And he learned a lot of the procedures
03:13
of how to fly on the computer.
03:16
So when it came to actual flying flying,
03:18
he already kind of knew what to do,
03:20
and he's he's a really gifted kid,
03:21
so I was never really scared and if anything,
03:25
I was worried his landings were going to be a lot better
03:27
than mine. It's funny because to this day,
03:30
you know, I've been in the airlines since 2019,
03:33
so about six years and to this day,
03:34
my dad is still one of the Most laid back,
03:38
relaxed, patient and kind people that I've ever flown with,
03:43
and I'm not just saying that because he's my dad.
03:45
So,, learning,
03:46
if I had to pick anybody to learn how to fly from
03:48
I'm, I'm grateful that it was him.
03:49
Well, he was a good student,
03:50
so it's truly a blessing to be able to to do that
03:53
with my son. Awesome.
03:55
I was wondering, do you have any traditions or rituals like
03:57
as a pilot that you do before flight after flight?
04:00
One thing my dad and I have in common is our favorite
04:03
coffee drink is a mocha.
04:05
and so before every flight.
04:07
I,, I don't even have to ask him.
04:09
I'll just show up to the airplane with a grande Starbucks mocha
04:12
and I know that,
04:14
one for him and one for me and it's
04:16
it's gonna be a good day if we start off with a
04:18
good coffee. That's for sure.
04:19
That's the mark of a good first officer,
04:21
knowing what the captain needs.
04:23
Mochas and we're we're locked in.
04:25
That's awesome. And now I play a little game.
04:27
We'll call it, it's a little rapid fire,
04:28
we'll call it pilot picks.
04:30
In your opinion, best seat on the plane,
04:32
aisle, middle seat,
04:33
window. Where, where are you going?
04:35
window. Yeah,
04:37
I'm going to exit row aisle.
04:38
And then go to snack combo.
04:40
Oh, we used to have,
04:42
I don't know if they still have them,
04:43
but we used to have these little olives on the airplane,
04:46
that came in a little package,
04:47
and they were in the first class snack basket.
04:49
Yeah, yeah, I have to agree with olives,
04:51
olives are good. I mean,
04:53
I'm a ginger ale or cranberry.
04:57
cranberry drinker. OK,
04:59
cool. I think we'll get along just great.
05:00
And then when you're traveling for pleasure,
05:02
what time do you get to the airport?
05:04
Do you like go out there with time to spare,
05:05
kind of settle in,
05:06
or you just like,
05:07
I'm straight to the gate,
05:08
I, I'm pulling up 5 minutes before.
05:10
Well, we always have to be there at least an hour
05:12
before. And so,
05:14
you know, you know,
05:15
when I'm playing with Nick,
05:16
you know, I'll be there a little bit early waiting for
05:17
my Starbucks, so.
05:19
don't want to miss that before we go down the
05:20
jet bridge. And then,
05:22
what's a slept on travel item?
05:23
I feel like the neck pillows I could go to,
05:25
you know, maybe some headphones,
05:26
like, what's one traveling thing that because I'm going to Mexico
05:29
in a few weeks.
05:29
What should I take with me?
05:31
that is definitely gonna elevate my experience.
05:34
You should bring a empty water bottle,
05:36
because you can bring an empty water bottle through security,
05:38
but then there's a lot of restaurants and stores in the airport
05:41
that will fill up your water for you.
05:43
So a lot of people don't want to bring a full water
05:45
through security, but they don't want to pay $10 for an
05:47
airport water either. So bring an empty water bottle and have
05:49
somebody fill it up for you.
05:51
That's definitely good advice.
05:53
And then,,
05:54
I'm just curious, like clapping after landing like it's a,
05:57
it's a party in there like,
05:59
is it, is it too much now or are we,
06:01
are we OK with it?
06:02
We can't hear it.
06:04
You can't hear it like when you're walking out,
06:06
if you've got some appreciation for the pilots,
06:09
we, we love to hear it.
06:11
All right, gentlemen,
06:11
well, it seems that the plane has landed.
06:13
I'm gonna grab my luggage and get out of here.
06:15
But once again, thank you so much to First Officer
06:17
Nick Ramirez and Captain ST Ramirez for joining us.
06:21
Thank you. Thank you.
06:22
It's nice to meet you.
06:23
Thank you so much and we'll see you guys in the sky
06:26
Bye.
