00:06
Oh dang. Happy Monday.
00:10
Happy Monday guys. Welcome back to Meo Daily.
00:14
Oh, you're doing,
00:14
oh my, my,
00:15
oh, I'm Alejandro.
00:17
And I'm Jenny and this is our corner.
00:23
No, wait, we're,
00:24
they're, they're away.
00:26
We're also away. We're not technically we're not here right now
00:30
so we're actually elsewhere.
00:32
We're, I'm coming back from Coachella right now.
00:34
I'm actually on the Bolas flight as we speak.
00:36
Bolati's brother. No free promo,
00:39
but we're on there.
00:40
But yeah, I mean,
00:42
I guess we're here for now.
00:44
Exactly. But in some good news,
00:46
we chatted with the cleaning queen herself,
00:49
Vanessa Amaro, and she put us on some good tips.
00:52
Oh yeah, Andre,
00:53
you're gonna definitely wanna jot some of these down.
00:55
Please enjoy the cleaning hacks and check it out.
00:58
So we are here with the cleaning Reina.
01:02
You've seen her on TikTok,
01:04
IG, and now she's even working with Clorox.
01:09
So please welcome Vanessa Amaro.
01:12
Hi, thank you for having me.
01:14
We're so excited to talk to you.
01:16
Same here. Latinos,
01:18
they love to keep things.
01:20
I personally, it's hard for me to get rid of stuff
01:22
like to declutter. Like my mom always tells me me kind
01:25
of like chine cuarto.
01:29
It's very much a part of our culture.
01:30
Like we don't wanna get rid of things like we yeah we're
01:33
like, oh, I might keep this for later,
01:37
and we're very sentimental about our things.
01:40
How do you decide like What to clean and what to throw
01:44
away. OK, yeah,
01:45
like you said, we are,
01:46
I like to say we're natural hoarders because it's painful
01:50
to get rid of something,
01:52
but one thing that really helped me was thinking about who the
01:56
things that I'm, I was getting rid of were gonna benefit
02:00
whether I was donating to a women's shelter,
02:02
was I donating to my friends and family in Mexico?
02:05
Was I even selling some things to make some cash for myself
02:08
because, hey, a little cash,
02:10
never hurt anyone. That's one of the things that really helped
02:13
me at the beginning because I wasn't necessarily sold on the idea
02:17
of getting rid of my possessions,
02:18
you know, especially like you said,
02:20
like sometimes you don't come from much and then when you get
02:23
a little bit you're like,
02:24
oh, but what if I need it?
02:25
What if I go hungry?
02:26
What I need to keep this back up.
02:29
You don't need it,
02:30
you're gonna be OK,
02:31
but that's one of the things that really helped me at the
02:33
beginning, you know,
02:34
that mentality of like,
02:36
who is this going to and maybe they need it more than
02:39
I do. I like that a lot.
02:41
I feel like that'll get me to like get rid of more
02:43
things but I also have another question for you.
02:47
Why do you think Latinos take so much pride in like cleaning
02:52
and like respecting our space?
02:55
It was taught to us that we needed to be clean and
02:59
you know it's like if you don't clean,
03:00
you don't go out.
03:01
If you don't clean,
03:02
you, you don't do this.
03:03
We don't buy you that,
03:04
you know, so it was like taught from the very like
03:07
early stages in our lives that like cleanliness was just part of
03:10
our lives and. I don't really know why it started,
03:13
but I just don't like my grandma would put me on the
03:16
floor with the bucket and was like,
03:18
you know what, your responsibility is your socks,
03:21
and she would give me a bar of saute,
03:22
you know, and we just go for it and,
03:25
and I just remember it being just a part of our culture
03:28
and I don't know why it started,
03:30
but I gotta say I'm kind of thankful for it,
03:32
although it can get a little toxic.
03:34
I, I can't lie because growing up sometimes parents tend to
03:38
use cleaning as a punishment.
03:41
and so that can create a toxic relationship once you
03:45
grow up when it comes to cleaning because you're like,
03:47
oh, I don't wanna clean because you naturally associated with cleaning
03:51
I have to clean because it's a punishment,
03:53
which is not, you know,
03:54
it's just a natural part of life that we all have to
03:56
do unless you're very,
03:58
very lucky and you have like.
04:00
20 people that work for you and you don't have to lift
04:02
a finger, but most of us are just gonna have to
04:04
get down and dirty.
04:05
It's like kind of like the I guess it's relatable to
04:08
going to the gym and yeah,
04:10
how do you make cleaning fun like what what's a hack that
04:13
you have that it's like comoque megans first of all,
04:17
you don't have your cleaning supplies organized in a little cart because
04:21
That way you just roll the cord and you don't even
04:24
think that everything is in there your dusters,
04:26
your cleaning products, your micro flower towels,
04:28
your sponges. But before that you need to get in the
04:33
mood, you know,
04:34
to clean and how you get in the mood with music a
04:38
body in motion stays in motion.
04:40
So if you just naturally get up to get a glass.
04:43
Of water and you start moving,
04:45
put the music on,
04:46
you know, and get to cleaning because once you get in
04:48
the couch with your book or watching TV you're never gonna get
04:52
up so you need to get yourself in the move and I
04:55
say maybe have a reward system,
04:57
you know, for some of us we are food you know
05:01
we are food motivated so hey,
05:03
maybe after I clean,
05:06
I'll have a piece of chocolate or I'll get to
05:10
order from, you know,
05:11
whatever you like to eat.
05:13
Maybe you don't have to cook that day.
05:15
Whatever you're motivated for maybe you've been eyeing those pairs of shoes
05:19
so let's get that clean spring cleaning going,
05:22
you know, it's.
05:22
Doesn't matter what it is,
05:23
but you, we're all motivated for something,
05:26
you know. I wanted to ask what's a hack to get
05:30
kids to clean? OK,
05:32
the first thing I would say is don't use cleaning as a
05:34
punishment. Instead, use it as a reward for things like
05:37
I said before, like.
05:39
You want a reward after you clean clean your kids want a
05:42
reward after they clean.
05:43
Maybe they get a bag of chips,
05:45
maybe they get to go to the movies,
05:46
or maybe they get however much time of your undivided attention to
05:50
play with them with Legos or outside or maybe you'll take them
05:55
to the pool and if you don't wanna do like a reward
05:58
system all the time,
05:59
have a Grown up conversation with them sit them down and be
06:02
like hey you know you're part of a family and as a
06:05
family we need to take care of a few things and this
06:08
is our home we need to protect our home we need to
06:10
be thankful that we have a roof on top of our heads
06:12
so the way we show things that we have a home
06:16
is by keeping it clean so that it can last for many
06:19
many years and so me.
06:21
As your mom or me as your dad I'm gonna go clean
06:24
the dishes. Would you please help me with vacuuming or will
06:27
you please help me picking up your toys?
06:29
I think kids are a lot smarter than we give
06:31
them credit for and sometimes when you really sit down with them
06:35
and have like a,
06:36
a very mature conversation instead of just being like,
06:40
hey, come here and you need to pick up your.
06:42
I'm gonna give you to that kind of be like that's what
06:45
I'm used to like,
06:47
what is that they go into attack mode because you just went
06:50
into like crazy mode.
06:52
So try and have those,
06:54
those tips in mind for the next time.
06:57
I love me too because,
06:58
even,,
06:59
now I'm gonna talk about my baby.
07:00
I'm sorry, but she,
07:02
she like she's only one,
07:04
but she already we like she likes to wipe the table because
07:06
we clean a little table.
07:07
She gets mad because we don't let her clean it.
07:09
And like the, the wife,
07:10
she's like, she cleans her face all the little toys.
07:14
No, yeah, we have like little toys.
07:16
So like I think like one thing that I always hear parents
07:19
say is like include your kids in these things.
07:21
Like don't like, oh here,
07:22
go over there like why do this?
07:23
Like no, include them somehow some way so they're used to
07:26
it and they're like oh you know it doesn't matter if they
07:29
didn't do a perfect job,
07:30
doesn't matter if like they forgot a few swipes or whatever,
07:34
but if you're correcting them all the time or you're like,
07:36
oh let me do it.
07:37
Instead they're gonna be like they're gonna think my job is not
07:40
good enough so why even do it so let the kids do
07:43
it the way they're gonna do it and then maybe after they
07:45
go to bed maybe you'll do it the right way,
07:47
you know, but let the kids be involved exactly and then
07:52
one final final question what's your goal to Saturday morning cleaning song
07:57
00 my God.
07:59
Oh, you really put me in a in a tough spot
08:02
but I gotta say the song.
08:05
That gets me up and moving.
08:07
Like if I am feeling extra lazy,
08:09
extra sleepy, I'm like I need to get up.
08:12
I put danzacududo. Oh,
08:14
that's a good yeah,
08:16
it's just like danza and I'm like,
08:19
yeah, it's just yeah it just gets into the mood,
08:23
you know. I grab my Clorox toilet one.
08:25
I use it as a microphone and then clean.
08:29
And it's just we all have a great old time.
08:33
The dogs are like,
08:33
oh God, there she goes again.
08:35
I'm poor little dogs,
08:38
but I don't care because we have a spotless house,
08:41
so that's all that matters.
08:43
Awesome. Well, Vanessa,
08:44
