Have you seen what is happening at colleges across the country?
00:03
Yeah. So at tons of schools including Columbia University,
00:07
University of Texas, US CUCL A and like a lot more
00:11
there has been mass protests against the war in Israel and
00:14
arrests have been happening nationwide.
00:16
So over 500 students and protesters have been arrested as of this
00:21
morning. The speaker of the House,
00:23
Mike Johnson is actually threatening to call the National Guard in if
00:27
the protesters do not disperse Mike Johnson.
00:31
So do you,
00:32
do you know where,
00:33
what school this is at?
00:34
Yes. So both of these images were taken at Columbia University
00:38
The President of Columbia University testified against the safety of Jewish
00:41
students on campus, claiming anti Semitism,
00:44
but the protesters claim that they are protesting the genocide,
00:47
not the Jewish people.
00:49
Most of the students have been charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct
00:53
We actually came across a viral video of a powerful parent
00:58
joining their student at us c in solidarity with the free Palestine
01:02
movement. Thank you so much for joining us today,
01:05
Lazaro. No, thanks to you.
01:08
Thank you for the invitation.
01:09
Of course. So we wanted to ask,
01:11
why were you there?
01:11
Yesterday? I am a supporter of Palestine and I have
01:16
a daughter on the,
01:18
on the campus at US C and I learned that they
01:21
are gonna be doing something protesting against what's happening in Palestine
01:27
and also in support of the Columbus students.
01:31
So as a father,
01:32
I had to be there to support,
01:34
not only my daughter to support all the students because this
01:39
generation is a generation of change.
01:43
They have the blessing that to have the social media things that
01:47
when I was a student,
01:49
I didn't have, I had to learn everything from the
01:53
newspaper or the TV.
01:57
And was my, my decision to believe whatever they were saying
02:01
was true or not.
02:02
But now the students have the social media and what's my
02:07
responsibility to be there as a father?
02:09
Are you upset about the US C commencement being canceled?
02:13
We heard the news that it was canceled.
02:16
It's, it's a shame but whatever they are
02:20
gonna do to stop the,
02:22
the people speak up about what's happening in Palestine and also
02:26
the races because this is racist races on a bigger scale to
02:32
cancel the, the speech of the Muslim girl.
02:36
It's unbelievable. I learned that it is the first time that
02:39
that happened. And but that's gonna create more awareness on
02:43
the students that they have to prepare themselves better.
02:47
They have to become leaders of our society.
02:49
I know all the things that they are doing bad,
02:53
the people that are controlling the universities,
02:56
all the things is going to be for the good of the
02:58
students because the students are realizing where they are and they have
03:02
to get, they have to prepare themselves better for the future
03:06
And I know that you sent us some videos that were
03:08
looking pretty violent and I know that the college students are going
03:11
through a lot. What would your message be for the parents
03:14
that are worried about those kids or their kids that are being
03:18
a part of these protests?
03:20
My message will be not to be afraid because all the propaganda
03:23
that they are using is to make us afraid,
03:25
to be afraid. We don't have to be afraid as a
03:29
parent, I know I have the right to be in any
03:31
campus that universities in California,
03:34
a free place to go.
03:36
Anybody can go there and we have the right to speak up
03:40
We have the right to a free speech and we don't
03:43
have to be afraid because what we are doing is something for
03:45
humanity. We are not doing anything violent,
03:49
we are not doing anything wrong.
03:50
So basically, my message to your parents is to support
03:53
their kids and also to stand with what they stand.
03:57
And as a parents,
03:58
we have the responsibility to support them.
04:01
Thank you so much for your powerful message and words that you've
04:05
been sharing with us.
04:06
Thank you. One more thing please,
04:08
to the students to all the students over there humanity.
04:13
Humanity agree on one thing that what's happening in Palestine is a
04:18
genocide and always we have to be standing against genocide.
04:23
Doesn't matter where this is not a matter of any
04:27
kind of religion, political views.
04:29
No, this is a matter of humanity.
04:32
We have to teach our kids that to killing kids is not
04:35
right. Genocide is not right.
04:38
We have to love each other.
04:39
We have to protect each other.
04:41
And that's my main message.
04:42
Please. Students keep on going because we are following you.
04:45
You are the new force of the gene,
04:48
the new generation, your generation is that one that is gonna
04:52
change the world and I believe and I have the hope and
04:55
I am sure that many changes are gonna come to the
04:59
all the universities of these events because police never has to go
05:04
inside a university unless there is a major crime.
05:09
Police doesn't have to go,
05:10
doesn't have to be involved on,
05:12
on the students. Campus is the house or the students and
05:15
the students have to be protected by the universities.
05:19
Thank you so much.
05:21
Bless Palestine, bless the world peace for everybody.
05:24
Thank you, Lazaro.
05:25
Thank you so much.
