A woman named Brooklyn Chipman is under fire on TikTok for allegedly “catfishing” as a Latina under the profile name Una Gutierrez. As per videos on the controversy, Una Gutierrez rose to TikTok fame last year for promoting the “copy and paste Latina” makeup trend. In fact, several stitch videos on the platform still reference her “Latina” makeup looks. However, TikTok users are now theorizing that Una Gutierrez is actually a white woman named Brooklyn Chipman, and has naturally blonde hair and blue eyes. Users allege that she dyed her hair black, uses brown contact lenses, and changed her name to “lie about being Latina.” Meanwhile, Chipman’s father took to TikTok to defend his daughter— while seemingly admitting to the ruse. “People are just attacking her,” he stated. “She had a Latina style for a few years there… she went through a phase.” Still, he asserted they have “a little bit of Mexican” in their “bloodline.”
