00:00
Alien Romulus is the latest in the sci fi horror franchise.
00:03
So we watched the trailer and let me tell you it is
00:06
not for the week and joining us today to talk about the
00:11
film is Isabella Merce.
00:17
Thanks for having me.
00:18
That was fun. Hey,
00:19
welcome. We're off to a good start.
00:22
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah,
00:25
I'm really excited. I'm excited more than anything for people to
00:28
see it and then hopefully to be there to watch the reactions
00:32
because we did a little comic con thing in San Diego.
00:36
That was crazy. I mean,
00:38
the energy was like,
00:39
like at a sports event.
00:41
I don't go to many if you could tell.
00:43
But yeah, you know,
00:44
it was very infectious,
00:46
it was loud, it was like everybody was rooting for the
00:48
same team for sure.
00:50
And everybody just wants this movie to be good.
00:52
That's awesome. And I love it.
00:53
I love it. Well,
00:54
so for those that don't know,
00:55
Alien Ramos is a horror sci fi movie and honestly acting is
00:59
one thing. But did you always like,
01:01
like scary movies growing up and horror movies?
01:03
I'm sort of a gore fanatic.
01:06
You got to be kind of messed up in a way to
01:08
like Gore, which is fine.
01:10
That's why I'm an artist.
01:11
But,, I really,
01:13
when I was in seventh grade I think it was winter break
01:16
I watched all of the song movies that were out at
01:18
the time alone. Oh,
01:20
my God. What was I doing?
01:24
Christmas time? I was like,
01:25
let me watch people get tortured.
01:27
really messed up.
01:29
So, when I got be on the set,
01:31
I think the coolest part was seeing how they do that sort
01:34
of messed up, sort of gore in film.
01:39
It's very impressive. I mean,
01:40
these people, you have three different teams working,
01:43
you got V FX,
01:44
you got practical effects and makeup all working together to really make
01:49
this look believable. I wish I could talk about some of
01:52
the specifics, but maybe after the movie comes out for sure
01:56
Oh my God,
01:56
that'd be awesome. And is it like low key scary,
01:59
like to act in horror movies or like,
02:01
you know, like a sci fi horror?
02:02
I know it's all coordinate.
02:05
But like I can barely handle like haunted houses or Halloween
02:09
horror nights. It's scary.
02:11
I'm kind of weird.
02:12
Like Holly Horn. I,
02:14
I'm the one that's in the front leading the,
02:17
I'm laughing at the people trying to scare me.
02:20
My response to fear is either laughter,
02:25
like once I register that it's not an actual threat,
02:27
I just start laughing.
02:28
It's sort of like a release of the sort of stress chemicals
02:31
that were building up in my body.
02:33
But I thought it was really fun and even filming the last
02:38
of us right now,
02:39
the, the fear is there,
02:41
right. You know,
02:41
you have to act,
02:42
it has to be there to an extent.
02:43
But at the same time I'm having so much fun,
02:47
I'm having a blast running from these people.
02:49
That's a crazy monster.
02:50
And then speaking about like jump scares.
02:53
do you,
02:53
like, cover your ears when that happened?
02:55
Like when you know that something's gonna,
02:56
because I cover my ears.
02:57
Like when I'm like,
02:58
I'm doing the mazes,
02:59
I'm, you know,
03:00
funny enough, I draw the line at like the demonic stuff
03:03
That's where I get really scared and I'll like stage the
03:05
house afterwards, but I'll,
03:07
I'll do this, I'll do the,
03:08
the ears and the eyes and I'll peek through the eyes because
03:14
I like the ear because sometimes also the movie theaters can be
03:16
loud. Oh, they can be really loud.
03:18
And, and it's the the sound mixing of this movie
03:22
that I think makes it also scarier.
03:23
Like something I really enjoyed that they did in the trailer was
03:26
they added the sort of ribs breaking sound from the chess burster
03:32
I mean, that wasn't there on the day when I
03:33
filmed it like, obviously,
03:35
but it was so cool to like to see those post production
03:40
elements incorporated and then to watch it in the theaters because they
03:44
they just, basically what happened was,
03:46
I'm with my homies Disney.
03:48
I reached out to Disney and I'm like,
03:49
hey, I want to watch the movie and they're like,
03:50
well, of course we'll make it happen.
03:52
They booked out a theater just for me and my friends.
03:55
That's fun. Yeah.
03:56
And like, one Disney rep.
03:58
And so we're all,
03:59
like, in this big theater,
04:01
they're like, we'll start the movie whenever because I'm like,
04:02
I gotta go pee when does it start?
04:04
Like, just whenever it's so cool.
04:08
Yeah, it was,
04:08
it was a really,
04:09
really fun experience I've never had before.
04:12
It's an awesome oh I felt so VIP he was like,
04:16
no, come watch it like,
04:18
you know, full dolby everything.
04:20
It's like, OK.
04:20
Yeah. Mhm The writers too,
04:45
the writer director and cinematographer,
04:48
like they were Latino,
04:51
I spoke Spanish on set.
04:53
I kind of felt weird though because sometimes like Fere would
04:57
give me notes on set but in Spanish and I didn't want
04:59
anybody to think we were talking shit.
05:02
Like I was like,
05:03
people would, so what happened was the actors would look at
05:05
me after he gave me a note and they'd be like,
05:07
and I'd be like this is what he said.
05:09
And because even if he was talking to Galo the GP,
05:12
because they were talking Spanish too,
05:14
there was a bunch of Latinos on set,
05:15
but they were talking Spanish about the scene and I felt like
05:18
I was in on a secret.
05:19
Yeah, I was hearing what they wanted to change in the
05:21
scene and then again,
05:22
the actress would look at me like,
05:24
and I tell them it was kind of fun playing the translator
05:28
That's awesome. Yeah,
05:29
it was a different vibe on set for sure.
05:31
I felt like a sort of camaraderie and,
05:33
and everything we did because even Fre writer is also Latino.
05:38
So it was a really fun experience.
05:40
Latinos in Budapest. It's like really talented people in the movie
05:44
Really, really talented.
05:45
Well, switching gears.
05:46
We're going to play a little game.
05:48
OK. All right.
05:49
So essential is called No Paz or we're going to give you
05:52
some situations. You just say,
05:54
you know what, all good in the pa or not even
05:59
going to look at the first up one run clubs.
06:06
Amino Amino muta Cardio.
06:11
No, no, you and I both,
06:13
I'm not running and if I'm walking I,
06:16
I'd rather be on a bike,
06:17
you know, like at least make it,
06:18
make it roller skates.
06:20
Yeah, that's the whole,
06:21
the whole vibe going on.
06:22
But I get it,
06:23
I get people who like those communities because it's like a way
06:25
to mingle and they have to,
06:26
it's just, I,
06:27
I wouldn't be able to talk because I'd be so out of
06:30
breath. You know,
06:31
there's no community in that when you can't talk and face hugger
06:36
Oh, no,
06:38
it's like it feels a little bit invasive.
06:41
So I think, yeah,
06:44
it's creepy. It's creepy.
06:46
You actually get them off.
06:47
Like I know in the trailer.
06:48
Obviously. What? I don't,
06:50
I can't say anything.
06:52
We're trying to like you to get me though.
06:56
I'm really good at spoiling things skydiving.
07:01
No. Really? You were in space in the movies?
07:04
I feel like you sent me up to space.
07:09
That's the Disney money dollars.
07:12
No, I like the things that make my heart go up
07:15
in a way like sport.
07:17
I love that. But again,
07:18
no running. How about me?
07:21
Oh no, I don't drink that shit straight up.
07:24
I love me. I love a smoky drink.
07:26
I don't like the sweet drinks and of course the Tano on
07:29
the rim. A little cha mora when you're talking to somebody
07:32
like I love Mias too.
07:36
That's something that I didn't really get into until I got to
07:39
L A in L A.
07:40
They're crazy here. They're so good.
07:42
And how about chess?
07:43
Burster? Oh, I'm scary.
07:48
What does death right there?
07:50
Am I scared of my time to give birth to?
07:56
That's crazy. Be like that.
07:59
2024 is wild times.
08:02
Well, I think,
08:04
is that it? Ok?
08:07
The time just flew.
08:10
Thank you. And you guys need to watch Alien Romulus.
08:14
It comes out August 16th.
08:16
You won't want to miss it.
08:17
Especially if you love horror and sci fi.
08:20
Take your dad's, take your mom,
08:22
take whoever I know I am.
08:26
Yes. Thank you.
08:27
Thank you. So that it was lovely.
