We had so many people in our feeds telling us to cover
00:04
this next story. Well,
00:06
we got you covered.
00:07
Imagine running from L A to Las Vegas with chang class and
00:12
a skirt. Well,
00:14
six women from the Mexican indigenous Ra Rauri community did just that
00:19
They completed a 335 mile ultra marathon called the Speed Project
00:26
from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
00:28
Their finishing time was 52 hours.
00:33
Incredible. The race known for its secrecy began at the Santa
00:37
Monica pier and ended at the welcome to Las Vegas side with
00:41
each woman running approximately 55 miles over three days.
00:46
So the six women call themselves the ra ra ra and are
00:49
all mothers. Their names are Angela Argea Isidora,
00:56
Lucy Vero and Julia.
00:59
The Tarahumara people also known as Ra Rauri are known for their
01:04
long distance running abilities.
01:06
Running is a major part of their culture and is linked to
01:10
their spiritual pursuits, prayer and hunting traditions.
01:14
That's so cool. That is so cool.
01:16
And I, I mean,
01:17
I saw somewhere, I don't know if this is a factor
01:19
but I saw somewhere that Nike even reached out to them
01:22
really? And what did they have to say?
01:24
Well, like they said that something about,
01:26
oh, like, you know,
01:26
if they want to sponsor them or something,
01:29
like, along the lines of that and how I think they
01:32
said that,,
01:34
only people behind them,
01:36
like, use Nike or like the sneakers or whatever.
01:40
That, that's what I saw it somewhere.
01:43
But I don't know if that's like,
01:45
you know, true.
01:46
But if it was,
01:47
regardless, these are a powerful group of women runners and mothers
