Girl Ultra is in the building.
00:05
Welcome, welcome, Amiga.
00:07
So we let's get into it.
00:09
How did your musical journey start?
00:12
Like and what are your earliest?
00:14
Music? Memories? Gracias,
00:15
Gracias Por p. What brought me into music was like
00:21
the diversity between what my dad liked and my mom liked,
00:25
I was thrilled about all of these like,
00:27
spectrum and colors of,
00:29
of music. And I always felt very drawn to that,
00:32
to like sounds and images that came with sounds.
00:39
And I don't know,
00:40
I feel, I feel like that that was the beginning
00:42
of everything. And then I had a band in high school
00:46
and well, basically,
00:49
Girl Ultra started with the detachment of,
00:51
of the band and that's pretty much it.
00:53
That's cool. And so what music did your dad like?
00:56
And that your mom like,
00:57
like, what are,
00:58
what are some art music artists that they liked that inspired
01:02
you. You would say,
01:03
well, my dad is a Roque Espanol dad 100% Caan,
01:08
there's this band he likes called s that's like a more like
01:11
underground punk band. But he was like a very rock
01:14
and Espanol. So,
01:17
and all the cheesy that stuff.
01:18
Like Rio Speed Wagon,
01:20
electric, light orchestral,
01:22
all, all of that stuff I grew up with and,
01:24
yeah, I, I mean,
01:25
like, they, they were pretty diverse.
01:27
My mom was also like a very pop,
01:29
like eighties pop,,
01:30
girly. So I had like,
01:33
all, all of those C DS in my home,
01:35
in my home. Yeah,
01:36
that's awesome for you.
01:38
Are there differences between songwriting like in English or in Spanish?
01:42
Definitely. I mean,
01:44
I feel like a lot of music,
01:48
like when I was growing up that I listened to was in
01:51
in English. So I feel like I understood the way
01:56
of like song writing in English and I was afraid to,
01:59
to like actually make a song in Spanish because it's,
02:02
it's a complex language is beautiful,
02:05
but they are long words.
02:06
They're like very strong pronunciations.
02:09
And I took the task of actually like building ideas on my
02:14
own language for a while.
02:16
So I, I feel like,
02:17
I, I like to make music in Espanol and you feel
02:20
like it hits more like in Spanish because a lot of people
02:23
say like el Espanol como,
02:25
I don't know the way like people like even curse in Spanish
02:29
or like, do you feel like it,
02:30
the, the sentients?
02:31
I it's more there.
02:33
To me it is,
02:35
I feel like, I feel more myself whenever I'm like
02:39
making a, a statement in Spanish or like cursing in Spanish
02:44
like it hits different,
02:46
it does hit different.
02:47
And how much control do you have over like the visual
02:50
aspect of your music career?
02:53
Like your nineties style scan flyers or where do you draw like
02:57
inspiration from? I'm a control freak.
03:00
Oh really? Yeah,
03:01
I mean, I,
03:02
I try to be part of every aspect.
03:06
I love collaboration.
03:07
I love to find the great fit for like design for
03:11
flyers, for fashion in my,
03:14
what's in my hands.
03:15
So I just try to,
03:17
to like, make the team bigger and make friends within
03:22
all of that. So I feel like when you,
03:24
you gain that kind of confidence in,
03:27
in the, in the term of like collaboration,
03:30
good things happen for sure.
03:32
You probably feel like you have to like,
03:34
really trust like everyone like in your team and everything because that's
03:38
like your vision, right?
03:40
Yeah. Yeah, I mean,
03:40
like the cla cla I mean,
03:43
you can control but then you have to trust other people's talent
03:46
I mean, I cannot do everything.
03:49
I just try to find people that can do things better with
03:52
my vision and that's,
03:55
that's a great experiment.
03:56
Definitely, definitely. And recently like fans expressed like shock
04:01
at Paco de Miguel being your brother.
04:03
Can you imitate him?
04:06
I won't because he imitates me.
04:09
He stole my personality.
04:11
No, no, no,
04:14
no, no. I mean,
04:14
we grew up with the same people.
04:16
I mean, every character in his universe is part of like
04:22
Aia or somebody we grew up with so I,
04:25
I can get the shock but we actually look a lot alike
04:29
So people were like,
04:30
oh my gosh, wait,
04:31
it makes sense. But,
04:34
I don't know. It,
04:34
it was fun to grew up in a loud house because he's
04:37
a very loud person and I was like singing my ass off
04:41
my house so poor,
04:43
poor, poor of my mom.
04:45
What is he talking about?
04:46
She's got some talented kids.
04:47
Like that's pretty cool.
04:49
Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
04:50
That's awesome. Well,
04:51
thank you so much.
04:53
We appreciate having you here and,
04:55
and where can people find you and like stream your music?
04:58
I'm like you can look for me ear ultra everywhere.
05:03
Those Laos nice. And do you have any shows coming up
05:06
or? Oh, yeah,
05:07
I do have a second week,
05:09
Coachella, second weekend on Saturday and then I'm touring with Chromeo
05:15
on September. Oh my God.
05:19
That's awesome. Oh my God.
05:22
I'm so proud of you.
05:22
Thank you so much.
05:23
So dope. All right.
05:24
Well, you guys heard it like so thank you so much
05:28
