You know, brother,
00:00
I've been hitting the gym like on the regular,
00:03
you see me with my little gym bag,
00:05
you know, ready to go after work.
00:07
But all I know how to do is like,
00:10
hit the elliptical, the treadmill and the Stairmaster.
00:14
Like I legit want to learn how to properly lift weights because
00:19
like, I want to build my,
00:21
why don't you sister?
00:21
I mean, that's more than I do than I do.
00:25
Why don't you,,
00:26
why don't you do the lifts weights?
00:28
I feel like, like maybe people at the gym,
00:30
you know, might look at me,
00:32
judge me and be like,
00:33
what the hell is she doing?
00:35
Let's not how you do it.
00:36
No. Say maybe I'm getting my own head about it.
00:38
I think so because I'm sure there's people that would down to
00:40
help you. And I know there's a lot of influencers now
00:42
that go hard on that.
00:44
And I'm like, yeah,
00:44
bro, we've had some on the show Tambien.
00:47
You're right. You're right.
00:48
Well, sister, you know what I got you because today
00:51
we have professional bodybuilder and online fitness coach,
00:54
Anna Rosales to give us her wisdom on weightlifting.
00:56
And bodybuilding. Hi,
01:00
welcome. Ok. Since we have you here,
01:05
did your family ever bring up,
01:06
like, oh, like,
01:07
you know, yeah,
01:08
get healthy. But don't look too manly,
01:10
like, because I know that's how it is.
01:11
Like, it's like,
01:12
but it's good to build muscle.
01:14
Absolutely. Definitely super important to build muscle above everything else,
01:18
even just like, or,
01:20
you know, just the physique of itself.
01:22
Most people now want to get in shape per se or want
01:26
to look a certain way.
01:27
But really, it's just super important to have muscle in general
01:30
because as we get older,
01:32
our bodies get weaker,
01:33
I just want to be able to move and keep up with
01:35
my kids, you know.
01:37
And so yeah,
01:37
muscle is absolutely super important and something that women shouldn't fear because
01:41
I was hearing you just a moment ago and you definitely shouldn't
01:45
fear it at all.
01:46
Especially kind of looking a specific way because I know that's
01:49
one of the biggest misconceptions of even starting to build a muscle
01:53
is am I going to get too big or too bulky?
01:56
You know, and that's a huge misconception because it takes a
01:59
lot of work to get to that point.
02:01
You know, it took me a long time and a lot
02:04
of work and a very different type of work to get to
02:08
where I was at a pro level.
02:09
So that's not the expectation out of anybody who's just in it
02:13
for lifestyle or for health.
02:14
And I know it's a lot about discipline.
02:16
Right. Like, it's a lot of,
02:18
like, on your mindset.
02:19
Absolutely. Yeah, I've coached hundreds of clients.
02:23
and the one thing I tell them all the time
02:25
because one of the biggest things is coach,
02:27
how do I find the motivation?
02:29
And it's like, well,
02:29
the motivation doesn't exist,
02:31
you know, in the beginning you're super motivated.
02:34
You're just like, I'll do anything.
02:35
I'll run a mile a day.
02:37
Like, you know,
02:38
you start going through all these crazy mirrors in your head of
02:40
what you have to do and what's expected of you and you're
02:43
so sure you're going to do it.
02:44
But then you're about 23 weeks in and you start burning out
02:48
the motivation is gone,
02:49
you know. And so what I tell most people is you
02:51
got to rely on your discipline.
02:53
Yeah. And you touched on a few things I actually wanted
02:55
to ask about. So,
02:56
like, what do you say to people who say that they
02:58
don't have the time to work out?
02:59
I know you're a mom.
03:01
You do like a bunch of content like about the mom life
03:04
and the kids and then also,
03:05
you know, the gym life.
03:07
So how do you balance all that?
03:08
Like, how do you find the time?
03:10
You know, when I first started,
03:11
especially with bodybuilding, I was working out six times a week
03:14
And so it's very different when you're in it for
03:17
a professional or like it's your sport.
03:20
You know, it's very different.
03:21
But with most of my clients,
03:22
I don't tell them that.
03:23
I just say, hey,
03:23
if you can give me three days a week,
03:25
just three days and the way to get it done is to
03:29
make sure you schedule it into your day,
03:31
just like your job is scheduled into your day because you show
03:34
up for your job.
03:35
Why? Because it's scheduled and,
03:36
you know, you have to be there.
03:37
It's a priority. So if you do that with your workouts
03:40
whether it be before work or after work,
03:42
I promise you everything will change.
03:45
It's incredible what it can do for you.
03:48
Time for work. So make time for yourself.
03:50
That's so true. Yeah,
03:52
definitely. I love that too.
03:54
I'm going to start telling myself that too.
03:57
So, you know,
03:58
just like making money is a priority.
04:00
Getting healthy, should be a priority too and you make time
04:04
to make money. So you should make time to get healthy
04:06
Most definitely. What's something that,
04:09
because for me it's the enjoyment of it.
04:12
Like going to the gym.
04:13
Like, like, I know some people are very like,
04:15
oh my God, I can't wait to go to the gym
04:17
I'm like, how do you get there?
04:18
Like, I like,
04:18
make it something that's like super enjoyable.
04:20
Like, what's it,
04:21
what's something that you're like that you look forward to?
04:24
I love being in the gym.
04:26
Because I get to throw on music in my ear and I
04:29
jam the heck out.
04:31
I mean, for me,
04:32
the biggest tip is just finding what you enjoy the most.
04:34
I would say a lot of these gyms offer a lot of
04:37
different types of classes.
04:39
So they have classes where you can weightlift,
04:42
especially for beginners who don't know what they're doing.
04:44
You know, if you try any of those,
04:47
and you find the right instru that plays the type of
04:50
music you like that motivates you the way you,
04:53
the way you need it because every instructor is very different.
04:56
But I would say that's a really good way to start off
04:59
to get motivated to actually show up is to find what you
05:02
like in the gym.
05:03
What advice would you give to girls like me who are just
05:07
starting to dabble into lifting weights?
05:11
Look for a good program that you can follow.
05:13
There's a lot of coaches out there,
05:16
especially online, you know,
05:17
you want to find somebody credible,
05:19
of course.,
05:20
but look for a workout program that you can actually follow because
05:24
if you walk into the gym and you have no clue what
05:26
you're doing, you're kind of just going to walk around,
05:29
you're going to look lost and you're going to absolutely feel a
05:32
little intimidated and then you're going to take off because you're like
05:36
I'm good. But if you have a plan to follow
05:39
six different exercises you have to hit and you know how many
05:42
reps, how many sets you're going to do,
05:44
which machines to walk to,
05:46
then you don't feel so out of place.
05:49
As long as you have a plan,
05:50
you're going to stick to it.
05:52
Now, if you don't stick to it,
05:53
then that's you being a slack with it.
05:55
You're right. You're right.
05:57
I need to be more disciplined.
05:58
That's my thing. But thank you so much and we really
06:02
appreciate you coming on the show and just talking to us more
06:04
about this especially. Thank you for me also because this is
06:09
very, very helpful to me.
06:10
Thank you so much for having me.
06:11
I appreciate it. And where can people find you on social
06:14
I mean we know but where can people?
06:16
So, so I have an Instagram account and that account is
06:20
at follow her fitness and then I also have a Tik Tok
06:24
account and that one is I'm a cool mada.
06:27
Yes. Take care.
06:29
Thank you all to see you.
06:30
Take care. Bye bye.
